OREANDA-NEWS. August 12, 2015.  The Ministry of Shipping has decided to prepare a National Perspective Plan (NPP) for the entire coastline in six months which will identify potential geographical regions to be called Coastal Economic Zones (CEZs). While preparing the NPP, synergy and integration with the planned industrial corridors, dedicated freight corridors, National Highway development programme, industrial clusters and SEZs would be ensured.

30 projects for port augmentation and mechanization of Major Ports have been targeted during the current year. Moreover, on completion of the National Perspective Plan, such identified projects would be taken up at both Major and Minor Ports for implementation under Sagarmala.

This information was given by Minister of State for Shipping, Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
