Frontier Airlines Announces New Miami-Las Vegas Flights
OREANDA-NEWS. Miami International Airport, in partnership with Honor Flight South Florida and Eastern Air Lines, capped off National Ultra-low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines, which launched operations at Miami International Airport last December, has announced that it will offer daily flights between Miami and Las Vegas beginning October 25.
The new Las Vegas service marks the latest addition to Frontier's fast-growing slate of flights from MIA, and will bring their Miami offerings to a total of seven U.S. destinations and 54 weekly departures. Frontier's rapid growth at MIA has been driven by strong demand for a low-cost domestic carrier option.
Denver-based Frontier currently offers its popular budget-friendly service from Miami to six leading U.S. destinations: Atlanta; Chicago; Denver; New York City; Philadelphia; and Washington, D.C. The new Las Vegas flights will be operated using 138-seat Airbus A319 aircraft, with daily flights departing Miami at 9:00 a.m. and arriving in Las Vegas at 11:20 a.m. Return flights will depart Las Vegas at 11:20 p.m. and arrive in Miami at 6:45 a.m. the next morning. Currently, only MIA hub carrier American Airlines offers direct Miami-Las Vegas service.
"We're excited that Frontier will soon be offering direct daily flights from Miami to Las Vegas, and we appreciate their growing commitment to the Miami market," said Miami-Dade Aviation Department Director Emilio T. Gonzalez. "There's clearly room for domestic low-cost carriers to thrive at MIA, and Frontier has wisely chosen to fill that market space."
Also at MIA in October, Austrian Airlines will launch five weekly flights to Vienna; Turkish Airlines will begin daily Miami-Istanbul service; and Lufthansa and Finnair begin expanded seasonal service to Munich and Helsinki, respectively.
