Tele2 and the Chuvash Republic seal agreement on cooperation in telecom development
OREANDA-NEWS. Tele2, an alternative mobile operator, and the cabinet of the Chuvash Republic have signed an agreement on cooperation in developing the telecom industry. From 2015 to 2019 the operator is planning to invest around over 1.1 bn rubles into development of the regional telecommunications infrastructure.
The agreement has been signed by Tele2 CEO Mikhail Noskov and Ivan Motorin, the cabinet chairman of the Chuvash Republic. The document is aiming to set foundation for cooperation in telecom development. The sides are also planning implementation of federal and regional special purpose programs aimed at the improvement of the economic environment of the Republic through the development of mobile services.
The agreement also solves an important social task: the company is making high-quality and low-cost mobile services available in small and remote residential areas of the Chuvash Republic – where technical restrictions make it impossible or economically inexpedient to roll out fixed lines.
On its part, the cabinet of the Chuvash Republic will provide the operator its support in setting up base stations and other telecommunications equipment in line with other market participants as well as encourage initiatives targeted at mobile services availability.
In the Chuvash Republic Tele2 started providing mobile services including high-speed wireless 3G Internet on 7 August 2015. One of the main instruments to attract subscribers during the brand launch was voting for low prices: over 39 thou residents of the Chuvash Republic supported profitable tariffs, honesty approach and high-quality services.
Mikhail Noskov, CEO at Tele2:
“We really appreciate that the Chuvash Republic authorities create favorable economic environment for business development. This helps our company support high standards of operations, improve the quality of connections and high-speed wireless Internet. I am sure that implementation of prescheduled programs will help effectively provide the population’s growing needs in reliable mobile services, contribute to improvement of living and, as a consequence, attract inflow of investment into economy of the region.“
