DCP exporting butane out of Chesapeake

OREANDA-NEWS. August 07, 2015. DCP Midstream has been actively loading ships at the Chesapeake, Virginia, export terminal for butane exports.

DCP converted its terminal from propane imports to butane exports earlier this year. The company said it is exporting two to three ships a month out of that facility and could expand, but didn't give any indication if or when it will do so.

DPC's Sand Hills pipeline serving the Permian basin and Eagle Ford shale in Texas came back online at the end of the second quarter after undergoing an expansion, to increase total capacity by 25pc to 250,000 b/d. DCP is adding additional pump stations that will add about 30,000 b/d of extra capacity to the line. The additional pumps are expected to come online in mid-2016.

The company is also looking at the best time to add the remaining five additional pump station to take the Sand Hills pipeline to full its capacity of 350,000 b/d.
