North Dallas Walmart Supercenter and Sam’s Club Open in Time for Back-to-School
OREANDA-NEWS. August 06, 2015. As families prepare for the upcoming school year,
a new North Dallas Walmart Supercenter and Sam’s Club opened their doors to
customers and members on Wednesday, August 5 following a grand opening
celebration. Walmart and Sam’s Club are
stocked with the Back-to-School and Back-to-College essentials families need at

the upcoming tax-free weekend to get everything they need to start the school
year off right.
The newly relocated 187,000 square foot Walmart is now at 4122 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway and the newly relocated 136,000 square foot Sam’s Club is now at 4062 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway. Together, this new Walmart and Sam’s Club will provide North Dallas area residents and business owners with low prices on a broad assortment of fresh produce, groceries and merchandise, along with full-service pharmacies, business service solutions and a fuel station.
“As a young man growing up in Texas, I worked as a cashier at Walmart in the summer to help my parents,” said State Representative Jason Villalba. “I’ve seen firsthand the many opportunities that are available at Walmart, and I have personally witnessed and worked with the hard working associates that are the backbone of this company. I want to congratulate Walmart and Sam’s Club on opening these brand new stores to better serve the North Dallas community and thank them for their continued investment in Dallas and the great State of Texas.”
State Representative Jason Villalba (R-114) and Dallas City Council member Jennifer Gates were among the dignitaries in attendance at Wednesday’s grand opening ceremony. The Marsh Middle School ROTC presented the colors and Walmart associate Michael Davis performed the national anthem. The celebration kicked off a weekend of grand opening festivities including special guests, free food and entertainment. (pdf attached with more details)
“This new development is a welcome addition to the community and to my district,” said Jennifer Gates, Dallas City Councilmember. “As one of the largest employers in the City of Dallas, it’s great to see Walmart and Sam’s Club investing in new stores to serve the community and investing in their employees with their recent wage increase announcement. On behalf of the City of Dallas, we welcome these new stores.”
Fresh, Affordable Produce, Meat and Groceries
Walmart and Sam’s Club shoppers can rely on affordably-priced fresh produce, organic selections, quality meats, and home meal solutions among the huge selection of merchandise. Customers will also find a full-service deli and an in-store bakery offering freshly baked breads, tortillas and custom cakes. By working with growers, Walmart and Sam’s Club are able to provide farm-grown quality produce at added convenience and low prices.
“Being a member of Sam’s Club means more than a membership card in a wallet,” said Sam’s Club Manager John Comer. “It means belonging to a community of members who have exclusive access to great products, brands and services. We look forward to providing our members with amazing values on the items they want as well as the unbelievable treasure hunt items they don’t even know they need.”
Shop Anywhere, Anytime
Walmart is making shopping more convenient than ever – customers can shop for more than a million additional items by phone or tablet on Walmart.com and have them shipped to the store for free using our Walmart Pickup feature, a free store pickup service offering free shipping from Walmart.com on eligible items. In addition, both locations offer a full-service vision center which offers a wide variety of affordable, quality eyewear – including glasses and contacts – optical products for all ages, and on-site eye exams. The club will also debut a hearing center, offering premium technology in hearing aid and personal listening devices alongside the care of a certified audiologist. Sam’s Club also offers free health screenings on a nearly monthly basis.
Our People Make the Difference
The LBJ Walmart store employs approximately 300 associates, the Sam’s Club employs approximately 175. In fact, about 75% of Walmart store management teams nationwide started as hourly associates.
“I started my career at Walmart eight years ago in the produce department and now am the store manager of my third store,” said Greg Harden, Walmart Store Manager. “Walmart is truly a place of opportunity and once you get in the company, the sky is the limit. I’m proof of that. My team of associates and I are excited to open this new store and welcome the community.”

To highlight the company’s commitment to the community, the grand opening celebration included presentations of grants totaling \\$32,000 to organizations in the community. Sam’s Club donated to organizations including the Epilepsy Foundation, National MS Foundation, Dallas Fire Rescue, Special Olympics, Oasis Center, and the Golden Gate Arm. Walmart donated to nonprofits in the community including the Catholic Charities of Dallas, Dallas Police Youth Foundation, Nathan Adams Elementary, and Thomas Marsh Middle School.
