OREANDA-NEWS. August 06, 2015. The IT Summer School has started  at the Moldova-Korea Information Access Center today. During one month, over 100 young people will study for free the Android and Photoshop applications. The courses are carried out by two groups of volunteers from South Korea.

The Minister of ITC, Pavel Filip, welcomed young people having a passion for IT and wished them a useful and exciting training. In this context, he thanked the National Information Society Agency from South Korea for the accomplishment of this project in its third edition.

"I am confident that information technology represents a development chance for the Republic of Moldova. Last week, the Parliament approved during  first reading the Draft Law on IT parks. Through this document we intend to make this industry more attractive for companies working in the area, but also for those who want to invest into this sector, " Pavel Filip declared.

The minister urged the young people to persevere and to take full advantage of the opportunities offered by the IT Summer School, since by choosing an IT career they opt for a promising future. "A constraint for the IT sector is the lack of qualified staff. To liquidate this gap, we have developed and are currently implementing the National Strategy for the development of information society „Digital Moldova 2020” and the Strategy  to enhance the competitiveness of the IT industry, where the amendment of school and university IT curricula is provided”, the minister pointed out.

Korean volunteers, in their turn, welcomed the young people in Romanian and mentioned  that in addition to delivering IT training, they will present the traditions and culture of the Korean people, but will also try to learn more about our country. The instructors are students of Korean profile Universities, arrived through Korean IT Volunteers (KIV) program of the  National Information Society Agency (NIA).

The Government of South Korea sends IT volunteers to Moldova since 2012. This year, in the period July-August, in our country 6 teams of volunteers have been delegated: one each in the village Oxentea, Dubasari and Budesti commune, Chisinau, and 2 each to ULIM and Moldova-Korea Information Access Center.
