Verrone wins the "Automotive Lean Production 2015" award
OREANDA-NEWS. The “Automotive Lean Production 2015”, in the “OEM” category, has been assigned to the FCA Verrone Powertrain Plant, after a detailed evaluation which was concluded with two days of on-site evaluation procedure by a panel of experts selected by the german magazine “Automobil Produktion” and “Agamus Consult”, a German consulting firm.
Since 2006, more than 900 plants in 15 countries, including Germany, France, Spain and Italy, applied for participating to the contest, one of the most important in Europe. In particular, over the years there have been 180 finalists and 47 winners, including in previous editions the FCA plants GB Vico (Pomigliano) and Bielsko Biala (Poland).
Each year, after a first analysis of the data from questionnaires received from the plants of various countries, Agamus selects the candidates for different award categories, 5 in total. The selection process also includes audits in the plant, specific meetings and talks, during which are validated the data collected through the questionnaires.
In particular they analyze the production system and its application in the plant, making sure that the principles of the lean production, especially in the field of quality, maintenance, logistics and the people development, are effectively applied with consistency and constancy, in such a way to create a work environment that effectively supports the continuous improvement process and the systematic waste elimination.
During the visit was presented the logic of World Class Manufacturing applied in the Verrone production process: from the Autonomous Maintenance applied on the machining equipment to the Workplace Organization on the assembly line, the new projects of Logistic & Customer Service for the elimination of the losses identified in the supply chain and the Professional Maintenance for which Verrone over the years has always been an example of excellence and innovation among the Powertrain plants. The WCM has to be considered the key of this last success confirming once more that the FCA production process is at the forefront in terms of competitiveness.
Verrone, which own the Silver WCM Score, currently produces the C635 gearbox family, manually actuated and also DDCT version (dual dry clutch automatic transmission). This product powers a wide range of FCA models from different brands, including the brand new Jeep Renegade and FIAT 500X and also Alfa Romeo 4C. The Plant employs approximately 550 people.
“Besides all the improvements made on the machines – as declared by Matteo Cibrario, the Plant Manager, we showed that the success of WCM has its basis on the involvement of the people and on the motivation that rises from that. This award is fundamental for Verrone, because the Plant is engaged into the challenge of reaching the Gold certification at the end of this year”.
The award ceremony will take place in Munich on November 17th – 18th 2015, during the congress organized by “Automobil Produktion” in collaboration “Agamus Consult”.
