OREANDA-NEWS. August 04, 2015. SSE and The FA are delighted to announce that England Women’s head coach Mark Sampson will present the trophy to the winning team at The SSE Women’s FA Cup Final.

Chelsea and Notts County go head to head at the Final (3.00pm KO), which will be held at Wembley Stadium for the first time in the history of the competition.  

Sampson, who managed the Lionesses to a historic third place finish at the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2015, has accepted the invitation from The FA and SSE to present the trophy to the winning captain from the Royal Box.
 
Kelly Simmons, FA football development and participation director, said: “Thanks to their historic World Cup campaign, Mark, his staff and the entire England team really made the country pay attention to women’s football.

“It’s fitting that he is presenting The SSE Women’s FA Cup Trophy to the winning team on another landmark occasion for the game, when we host the Final at Wembley for the first time.”

It’s the first final of our new four year partnership which aims to make a real difference to the future of women’s football and Alan Young, SSE Managing Director of Corporate Affairs is delighted Mark has accepted the offer:

“The Lionesses efforts at the World Cup captured the imagination of the nation and Mark’s involvement in presenting the trophy at The SSE Women’s FA Cup Final is a fitting tribute to that.”

With both clubs aiming to lift the trophy for the first time, this promises to be another landmark event in our partnership with The FA.
