OREANDA-NEWS. July 31, 2015. With an established reputation as an equal opportunities employer, Ford has constantly endeavored to create a conducive workplace for all employees. Ford India’s Sanand plant has Gone Further toward being a benchmark with regard to employee welfare. Recognizing the need among employees, especially women, to stay close to their young children, a colorful cr?che facility, called Ford Juniors, has been inaugurated within the plant premises.

Speaking at the inauguration of the daycare facility, Kel Kearns, site plant manager, Sanand Vehicle Assembly and Engine Plant (SVAEP), said, “There is no comfort like knowing that your child – however old – is being well-taken care of. And with a large percentage of our employees falling within the young parent demographic, we realized that they would be a lot more comfortable if their children are within close quarters. We are sure that this facility will be of tremendous value to everyone, also given that we are at a critical manufacturing stage.”

The inauguration was attended by other senior management at SVAEP, including Dhiraj Dixit, assistant plant manager, SVAP, and Rajaram K, General Manager, Human Resources.

The facility will be managed by a team of qualified and experienced caretakers and offer a safe fun environment for up to 15 children initially. Located in the ‘People Only’ zone, the facility is adjacent to the medical center and canteen, making it easily accessible from all other areas.

“I have a two-and-a-half year old son and I’m very happy that I can bring him to the cr?che here. This is a truly wonderful initiative from the company and assures us that our children are in professional care, while we are at work,” says Rajam Vetriselvan, finance.
