OREANDA-NEWS. July 29, 2015.  IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that Gartner, Inc. has positioned IBM as a Leader in the 2015 Magic Quadrant for Mobile Application Development Platforms.1  For the report Gartner evaluated the IBM MobileFirst Platform.

According to Gartner, “a MADP enables an enterprise to design, develop, test, deploy, distribute, analyze and manage a portfolio of cross-platform mobile apps on a range of devices running Android and iOS, and addressing the requirements of diverse use cases including external-facing and internal-facing scenarios.

According to Gartner, “Leaders must represent a strong combination of Ability to Execute and Completeness of Vision. In the MADP sector, this means that Leaders not only are good at cross-platform development, deployment and management across the full life cycle, but also have a good vision of the multichannel enterprise, support for multiple architectures and standards, a solid understanding of IT requirements, and scalable channels and partnerships. Leaders must provide platforms that are easy to purchase, program, deploy and upgrade, and which can connect to a range of back-end and cloud services, from the same vendor as well as third parties.”

With access to cloud-based or on premise capabilities, organizations using the IBM MobileFirst Platform can build, integrate and manage mobile apps at scale. Clients can use the platform to build and deploy mobile apps, or integrate apps built with third party tools. It is optimized for native, HTML5 and hybrid development, or any combination of these approaches.

"Today, most companies already have a backlog of mobile apps waiting to be built,” said Phil Buckellew, vice president, enterprise mobile, IBM. “The IBM MobileFirst Platform quickly delivers high quality apps with a modular platform that supports business requirements for speed, and agility. We believe Gartner’s continued recognition of IBM MobileFirst reinforces how IBM is redefining the mobile application development platform and putting a rich set of tools and cloud-based services into the hands of the world’s developers so they can focus on creating exceptional mobile applications.”

Whether just getting started or on track to rapidly increase their number of enterprise mobile apps, organizations can benefit from multiple IBM MobileFirst Platform capabilities including the ability to:
