Yandex Launches Delivery Services Aggregator
While 83% of the nation’s internet users live outside the capital, almost half (47%) of Russia’s internet store users are Muscovites. Other cities with a population of more than 1 million account for 17%, and smaller cities comprise 15% of those who shop online. One of the reasons for this is that many stores do not deliver goods to Russia’s regions due to the difficulty of logistics and the cost: it would involve working with a number of different delivery services, paying each of them for shipment separately and dealing with all the associated documentation and accounting. As a result, regional e-shoppers have a narrow choice of goods; they are unable to purchase what they need online and order delivery to their location. The new Yandex.Delivery service solves these problems, simplifying logistics for internet stores.
Yandex.Delivery operates according to the “single window” principle: to work with a number of carriers, all a store has to do is connect to the service. Yandex offers a single shipment of goods, with unified paperwork and accounts. Stores can also install a widget on their site, allowing shoppers to choose the delivery price and timeframe that suits their needs. All of this helps stores to boost conversion rates, cut costs on logistics and expand their geographic range. The service is free of charge. Stores pay only for the delivery of goods according to carriers’ tariffs and for any extra services such as sorting goods or receiving payments from shoppers. If anything should happen to goods along the way, Yandex takes responsibility.
The service not only simplifies delivery to the regions, but also reduces the cash gap. Yandex plans to transfer payments to stores the day after goods are delivered, regardless of whether the carrier has already transferred the funds. The cash gap reduction allows stores to speed up business processes and increase sales volumes.
At present Yandex.Delivery is using the services of five major carriers: Axiomus, Boxberry, STRIZH, DPD and Russian Post. It covers all of Russia’s regions and offers all possible delivery options – courier, pickup points and packstations.
