OREANDA-NEWS. July 27, 2015. Vancouver Airport Authority continues to conduct its annual runway maintenance focused on constructing Runway End Safety Areas (RESAs) on the South Runway. The work happens 5 nights per week (Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, Sun). In addition, we are beginning urgent repair work on Taxiway Delta.

The South Runway will continue to be closed five days per week (Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, Sun) and the North Runway will continue to be used for departures 5 nights per week (as above) and arrivals 7 nights per week.

Because of the urgent repair work needed to Taxiway Delta, we are extending the hours of construction on the nights when work occurs.

  • Construction start time: 9:00 p.m. (as before)
    Construction end time: 8:30 a.m. (previously 7:00 a.m.)

Between 6:30 and 8:30 a.m., South Runway use will remain limited due to construction.

We anticipate completing all work by August 31, 2015, however, this may need to be extended based on work progress and weather conditions.

We recognize that some communities may be disturbed by the changes to runway usage, but these temporary schedule changes are necessary to ensure that YVR meets the highest standards of safety and efficiency. We appreciate your support as we continue to prioritize safety and security. For more information on summer runway operations, email community_relations@yvr.ca or call 604.276.6772.
