Kaspersky Internet Security for Android on a Winning Streak Earning Top Recognition from Three Independent Test Labs
OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2015. Latest version of Kaspersky Internet Security for Android has received the highest recognition by three independent test labs. In the first six months of 2015, the solution was tested by AV-Comparatives, AV-Test and PC Security Labs.
The most recent testing by AV-Test Institute in May 2015 was an overall assessment of the solution’s effectiveness. First, AV-test experts examined how the security solution reacted to 2,741 malicious applications, 1,969 legitimate applications from Google Play Store and 977 trusted applications from third-party sources. Second, they examined how the security solution affected the device’s performance. Overall, Kaspersky Internet Security for Android successfully detected 100 percent of threats without a single false positive. Researchers also found that the solution had no noticeable impact on battery life, the device’s performance or Internet connection bandwidth. As a result, the solution scored the highest six points in both the Protection and Usability test categories, and received the “AV-Test Certified” award.
PC Security Labs ran a test on Kaspersky Internet Security for Android in April and published its results in late June. This test employed 2,435 malicious files and legitimate applications, which were recorded on the device’s SD card before the security product was installed and updated. Any failures to detect threats during the scan and false positives reduced the final scores for each product. However, the security solution’s final score came in the 98-100 range, earning it a five-star certificate.
In addition, AV-Comparatives published an overview report of its March testing without announcing any awards. A collection of 4,523 malicious applications belonging to 125 of the most widespread malware families was used to test the security solutions. First the experts scanned the entire set of APK files using an on-demand scan. Then they attempted to manually launch each of the undetected applications, allowing the security solutions to use their real-time protection systems. Kaspersky Internet Security detected 99.6 percent of all threats. The false positives count was not included in the final score, as Kaspersky Internet Security for Android, like most of its rivals, did not trigger any.
“The consistently high scores for the Kaspersky Lab solution in tests by different labs once again proves how effective Kaspersky Lab security technologies are. It is especially valuable that the solutions have been tested against fundamentally different collections of malware programs – threats typical to Europe are often different from those circulating in China – showing that Kaspersky Lab users can be confident in their protection no matter where they are,” commented Timur Biyachuyev, Director of Anti-Malware research at Kaspersky Lab.
Kaspersky Internet Security for Android is part of the ultimate security solution, Kaspersky Total Security. Along with the Google Android platform application, it includes security solutions for Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X, and secure browsers for Windows Phone and Apple iOS.
