OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2015. 3D Realms has launched some of the most (in)famous male characters in video game history.

With their new game, Bombshell, 3D Realms and developer Interceptor Entertainment did something different. They built the game around Colonel Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison, a strong female lead.

3D Realms and NVIDIA are giving QuakeCon attendees a treat by letting them be the first to play Bombshell. They’ll be the first to see the impressive visuals our GameWorks technology helps achieve in Bombshell.

Bombshell has the retro style of an isometric action game — with RPG elements. But there’s nothing old about its graphics. 3D Realms built Bombshell on Unreal Engine 3. That makes adding NVIDIA GameWorks technology a snap.

When a bomb drops, NVIDIA Particles and Turbulence will add effects such as smoke and fog. These interact with characters and objects, while explosions scatter debris all over the place.

Bombshell also features NVIDIA HBAO+, a fast, simple way to add an exceptional level of detail to a game. It provides remarkable image quality. But it’s also incredibly efficient. That makes it a win for gamers and game developers.

We’ll continue to work with 3D Realms up until launch to add graphics pop and more GameWorks features to their game.

Colonel Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison of the Global Defense Force delivers. She has charisma, sarcasm and a foul-mouthed, tongue-in-cheek take on the action. It’s the stuff fans of 3D Realms have come to love. So, stop by Quakecon and see what makes “Bombshell” one of the most interesting characters seen in video games in a while.
