ETF Quarterly Statistics: 2nd quarter of 2015
The most-traded ETF in the first quarter was once again the iShares SMI (formerly CS ETF on SMI), with CHF 1'141 million, followed by ISHARES S&P 500 UCITS with a trading turnover of CHF 678.7 mn in second place and the UBS ETF - MSCI EM SF USD A with CHF 670.1 mn in third place. The currency-hedged UBS ETF MSCI EMU hedged to USD on the Euro countries takes fifth place with a turnover of CHF 558.4 mn, while the sixth spot of the top 20 goes to the Lyxor China Enterprise with a turnover of CHF 546.30 mn.
With Van Eck Global Investments Ltd, SIX Swiss Exchange welcomed its 20th product issuer in June, listing two new Market Vectors ETFs that invest in gold mine shares. Towards the end of Q2, Source PIMCO listed four actively managed ETFs on various corporate bond indices, increasing the total of active ETFs on SIX Swiss Exchange to 23.
In total, 66 new ETFs were listed on SIX Swiss Exchange during Q2/2015. Most of them are replicating equity indices, while several are based on alternatively weighted indices. As a result, the ETF segment comprises 1'080 products at the end of June 2015 (including 311 in additional trading currencies) from 20 providers, while 23 official market makers provide liquidity.
