OREANDA-NEWS. July 24, 2015. ChelPipe Group shipped 14,200 tons of large-bore pipes (LBPs) for the reconstruction of the Kazakh section of the Tuymazy - Omsk - Novosibirsk Pipeline, Phase 2 (TON-2). The pipes were delivered March to June, 2015.
ChelPipe's white metallurgists shipped ?720 mm, 10-14 mm wall and ?1020 mm, 10 mm wall Grade K52 steel pipes to KazTransOil, the national oil transporter in Kazakhstan. All the LBPs had anticorrosion coating.
The pipes fabricated by ChelPipe are used for the overhaul of the TON-2 pipeline. The pipeline’s current capacity, 7 million tons of oil per year, is expected to go up to 10 million tons per year after the upgrade.
KazTransOil is the key client of ChelPipe Group in Kazakhstan. The pipe producer ships around 20,000 tons of large-bore pipes to the Kazakh national oil transporter every year for repairs/operation. In 2014, ChelPipe Group, Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and KazTransOil signed a memorandum on research and development cooperation. The primary objective of the agreement is to develop uniform standards within the framework of the Customs Union and ensure reliable and environmentally safe oil product transport. The partners' specialists regularly meet to discuss the improvement of strength properties of pipes.
