New partnership between S4C & Sony will take Welsh language broadcasting to a new level
OREANDA-NEWS. July 23, 2015. Welsh language broadcaster S4C has signed a deal with Sony International to produce content that will be sold around the world.
S4C has recently filmed a new six-part series called Wild Recruits in Caernarfon and the surrounding areas – with the hope that other TV companies will follow their example.
Wales Office Minister Alun Cairns said:
This partnership is great news for S4C and will take Welsh language broadcasting to a new level.
Wales is a hub of creativity and innovation, and is punching well above its weight in the broadcasting sector.
Only last week, the Wales Office hosted a reception to highlight the success of our home grown creative industries on the global stage.
I hope the legacy of this deal will see other TV companies capitalising on the many opportunities Wales holds in providing unique and stunning backdrops to their future filming projects.
Last week, the Wales Office celebrated the Welsh television industry at a reception hosted by Stephen Crabb, the Secretary of State for Wales, in London.
Guests from commercial television, BBC Wales, S4C and the independent film sector gathered at Gwydyr House to mark an amazing year of achievement for the TV industry in Wales.
