Ford's Saarlouis Plant Produces Five Millionth Ford Focus
OREANDA-NEWS. Ford’s Saarlouis Plant in Germany is celebrating a major milestone – the five millionth Ford Focus produced there has just rolled off the line.
The vehicle, a Ford Focus Titanium finished in Panther Black, is destined for a customer in the UK.
Ford has been producing the Focus at Saarlouis ever since 1998. The plant also celebrates its 45th birthday this year.
“The Ford Focus is a very important model for Ford, because it is a world car. Last year, a little over one million Ford Focus models were sold worldwide and more than one in four came from the Saarland,” said Karl Anton, Director Manufacturing at Ford Europe.
Saarlouis produces every vehicle in the Focus range from the sporty ST to the pure battery-electric powered Ford Focus Electric. Saarlouis also manufactures C-MAX and Grand C-MAX.
Every day 1,770 vehicles roll off the assembly line at Saarlouis. Since the facility was opened in June 1970, more 13.6 million Ford vehicles have been produced there.
