OREANDA-NEWS. July 21, 2015. Vancouver International Airport (YVR) launched its T-shirts to Paradise campaign to inspire British Columbians to rediscover Asia as their next travel destination. The multi-platform media campaign highlights the unexpected in six travel destinations direct from YVR: China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Korea and The Philippines.

“YVR has seen tremendous growth from our Asia Pacific market thanks to increased air services, terminal improvements and ambitious initiatives,” said Anne Murray, Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Vancouver Airport Authority. “We are excited to continue this growth by promoting Asia and highlighting some of the amazing countries with direct access to YVR. Asia offers excellent travel and business opportunities for British Columbians and we are committed to supporting our partner airlines to increase awareness of the region.”

YVR has strong linkages to Asia, with up to 134 direct flights per week to Asia at the peak period in August. Thirteen air carriers currently service routes between YVR and 10 major destinations in Asia, providing excellent connections to all parts of the region. YVR is also the only airport in North America with service from four mainland China carriers: China Eastern, China Southern, Air China and Sichuan Airlines.

The campaign will focus on several surprising parts of each country, such as hiking around mist-capped mountains in China, surfing some of the best waves on the planet in Taiwan or snowboarding through untracked powder in Japan. Air Canada, All Nippon Airlines, Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, China Southern Airlines, EVA Air, Philippines Airlines and Sichuan Airlines proudly sponsored business class tickets to designated destinations for this contest.

To enter the T-shirts to Paradise contest, pick up a t-shirt at the YVR Community Festival booth at one of these key events across the Lower Mainland this summer:  Celebration of Light Festival on July 25, from 2pm-10pm; Take-Off Fridays at YVR on July 31 and August 5, from 10am-2pm; The Fair at the PNE on August 22 from 11am-late; and Richmond World Festival on September 5, from 11am-10pm.
