OREANDA-NEWS. July 20, 2015. An IRU delegation comprising the Presidents of the Passenger Transport Council, Goods Transport Liaison Committee with the EU, and the Taxi Group met with EU Transport Commissioner Bulc to discuss innovation within the transport sector. Discussions focused on IRU suggestions on how innovation can be harnessed to create the most efficient business and customer focused transport system in the world with road transport at its core.

The Commissioner’s support was sought for the Smart Move and European Citizens Mobility Forum objective to double the use of collective passenger land transport to become a formal policy objective of the European Commission. Innovation within IRU’s Global Taxi Network of safe, secure and legal smartphone taxi services was showcased. The IRU delegation also highlighted its work trade facilitation, such as Commercial Vehicle of the Future initiative and electronic transport documents. The meeting also addressed the proper functioning of the internal market.
