OREANDA-NEWS. July 17, 2015. A digital workflow system developed by power management company Eaton has won a 2015 Operational Excellence Manufacturing Leadership Award from Frost & Sullivan's Manufacturing Leadership Council. The system was recognized as an industry best practice for reducing aftermarket repair turnaround time, increasing shipping volume and enhancing customer satisfaction for Eaton's aerospace customers.

"As a technology leader for aerospace, Eaton is on the forefront of developing technologies that improve our internal processes and ultimately benefit our customers," said Nicole Young, senior IT manager, Eaton's Aerospace Group. "The digital system also helps ensure our compliance with new Federal Aviation Administration guidelines while strengthening Eaton's competitive standing in the aftermarket repair business."

Eaton developed the new workflow management program, EDGE, in 2010 to enhance fulfillment and quoting processes and to meet stricter government compliance guidelines. The system was launched at aerospace facilities in Jackson, Mississippi, Los Angeles, California, and Grand Rapids, Michigan. Since deployment, Eaton's facilities have decreased overall turnaround time by 37 percent, increased shipping volume by 27 percent per month, and reduced time to process customer orders by 60 percent.

Eaton plans to roll out the system this year at its aerospace facility in Titchfield, England, and at five additional aftermarket repair sites by 2017.

The Manufacturing Leadership Awards, now in their 11th year, honor manufacturing companies and individual manufacturing leaders that are shaping the future of global manufacturing and that have delivered clear and compelling value, return on investment, and other tangible outcomes.
