OREANDA-NEWS. July 17, 2015. On the eve of the Mobile World Congress Shanghai, Huawei and key chipset providers plus important industrial manufacturers met with telecoms operators from Asia, Europe, and the Middle East to discuss the application and popularization of cellular-based IoT technologies (CIoT). CIoT involves multiple industries such as automotive, energy, business, and environmental protection. Huawei and associate companies firmly support the fast standardization of cellular-based IoT to encourage large-scale rapid ecosystem growth with minimal fragmentation for ultimate operator success. Many participants agreed that Narrow Band CIoT presents the most mature technology combining the lowest end-to-end costs and highest efficiency, in terms of low power requirements and widest coverage, to support operators with rapid deployment in fast-developing IoT markets.

"NB CIoT is the main trend of the global cellular-based IoT technique and has a wide range of performance advantages. It allows for network deployment with only 200 KHz spectrum," said Chaobin Yang, CMO of Huawei Wireless Network. "NB CIoT can be deployed as a SingleRAN network or as a separate network, which significantly reduces network deployment costs. This mode is favorable for smart terminals sharing small amounts of data for a long time. Supporting data shows that NB CIoT terminals have a 10-year service duration relying only on batteries."

Huawei supports all operators, chip manufacturers, terminal module suppliers, and device vendors, corresponding industry cooperation partners in making a concerted effort to promote rapid standardization within 2015 and commercialization as early as 2016.
