US factory output flat in June, autos down: Fed
OREANDA-NEWS. July 16, 2015. US manufacturing output was unchanged in June, while output of motor vehicles and parts fell by 3.7pc from the prior month, Federal Reserve data showed today.
Manufacturing in June grew by 1.8pc from a year earlier, the Fed said in its monthly industrial output report.
Manufacturing of durable goods fell by 0.1pc, as did output of primary metals, fabricated metal products and machinery. Durable goods were 1.5pc higher than a year ago, primary metals fell by 6.5pc from a year earlier and fabricated metal products were flat on the year. Machinery was up by 3.2pc from a year earlier.
Motor vehicles and parts fell by 3.7pc from the prior month, with output of motor vehicles down by 5.5pc and parts off 1.9pc. Car assemblies were up by 3.6pc from a year earlier, while parts rose by 3.2pc.
Manufacturing excluding motor vehicles and parts rose by 0.3pc on the month.
Manufacturing capacity utilization fell by 0.1pc point to 77.2pc from the prior month. Mining capacity utilization rose to 84.1pc.
Total industrial production, which comprises manufacturing, mining and utilities, increased by 0.3pc in June, and was up by 1.5pc from a year earlier.
Mining rose by 1pc on the month but fell by 0.8pc on the year. Utilities rose by 1.5pc from the prior month and were up by 4.3pc from a year earlier.
