Siemens: China’s importance as an innovation driver
OREANDA-NEWS. July 15, 2015. Speaking in Beijing in July 2015, Siegfried Russwurm, who heads research and is a member of the Managing Board at Siemens, emphasized China's importance as a country driving innovations for Siemens in both a local and a global context. At the media round table he spoke together with Dr. Zhu Xiaoxun, the Head of Corporate Technology in China and Siemens CEO Greater China, Lothar Herrmann, about growth powered by innovation in China.
Siemens has been active in China since 1872 and has been conducting research of its own there for nearly 20 years. Today, the company maintains close links with China's research community and universities. By establishing research laboratories in Beijing, Shanghai and Nanjing, Siemens was able to boost its presence in this region while expanding its role as a trendsetter in innovative development projects.
Reference projects – such as the baggage handling system at Beijing Capital International Airport's Terminal 3, the behind-the-scenes technology at the famous Han Show Theater, and the successful cooperation with the automotive component supplier Tri-Ring Group in Wuhan – demonstrate how China has become an innovation hub for Siemens.
