OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2015. Today sees the launch of  “Il Teatro Fa Bene‘  (www.ilteatrofabene.it), a theatre and health awareness project for Mozambique,  developed and supported by the Eni Foundation www.eni.com/enifoundation,  and coordinated by Jacopo Fo and Bruno Patierno.

The initiative aims to spread awareness about health issues, particularly with regard to maternity and infant care in a geographical area where, together with the Eni Foundation, the NGO Medici con l’Africa Cuamm also operates.

A group of 7 actors from Mozambique, selected from over 100, has just arrived in Italy to take part in a 25-day course at the Libera Universit? di Alcatraz, in the hills above Perugia. A team of Italian actors, video-makers and scriptwriters will work with the actors from Mozambique to stage a show that will tour the villages of the Cabo Delgado area, in the far north of Mozambique, reaching an audience of some 25,000 people.

Il Teatro Fa Bene will be a synthesis of Macua and Maconde theatre and Italian Teatro dell’Arte with a new format, based, on the one hand, on the dramatisation of health and nutritional information, and, on the other, on demonstrations and practices concerning the use of simple day-to-day auxiliary technologies. The objective is to provide the local population, in particular mothers and children, with a knowledge of good hygiene, health and diet in a way that is more effective than other forms of awareness building.

The tour will be covered online at www.ilteatrofabene.it thanks to reports by Simone Canova and video by Iacopo Patierno.
