Transaero Doubles Commitment to Flight of Hope Charity Project
OREANDA-NEWS. Transaero Airlines is devoting a second Boeing 747 to its unique Flight of Hope charity project.
The Flight of Hope project - unprecedented in Russian civil aviation - allows passengers to make donations during specified flights to fund the treatment of children, supervised by the Life Line charity fund, who are suffering from serious heart, brain and spinal cord illnesses.
The project has been running since November 2013 with one Boeing 747, and by adding the second 747 in special livery it doubles the opportunities Transaero passengers have to take part.
The project's mission is reflected in the exclusive fuselage design on both Boeing 747 aircraft. They are adorned with dozens of bright and colorful palm prints symbolizing a helping hand to needy children.
The hand palm prints on the aircraft are from both Russian celebrities and Transaero volunteers, demonstrating the unity of everyone ready to do good and give children hope for recovery.
Passengers of Flight of Hope have already donated more than four million roubles to Life Line fund. This contributed to financing complex operations for 27 children.
The aircraft used in the project are fitted with the satellite equipment offering inflight connectivity services, this allow passengers to make donations during flights via portable banking terminals, internet or by sending SMS.
Flight of Hope project has been named among the top three of the All-Russia competition "Leaders of Corporate Charity" and was awarded with the "People Investor" prize. When these awards were granted to the airline, particular attention was given to the airline's role in promoting social responsibility values in the community as well as supporting positive attitude to charity giving.
