OREANDA-NEWS. July 14, 2015. How do you love wildlife? This month, Dawn Dish Soap is celebrating its rich history of loving and supporting wildlife with the debut of its “We All Love Wildlife” video series. For almost four decades, Dawn has been the only dishwashing brand trusted by wildlife rescue experts, heralded for its soft on feathers, tough on grease benefits.

The heartfelt video series showcases the profound, positive influence that wildlife has had on rescue volunteers from Dawn’s long standing wildlife partners, International Bird Rescue (IBR) and The Marine Mammal Center. The videos feature four volunteers – a college student, a mom, a surfer and a veteran volunteer – all dedicated to helping save and rehabilitate marine animals in need.

“I think there must be some kind of relationship between me being a mother and me wanting to care for a baby bird. My daughter is grown, married and moved out, but I can’t shut off my parental instincts,” said Deborah Heritage, International Bird Rescue volunteer. “My nest was empty so I filled it with birds by volunteering at IBR. It feels great helping something that can’t help itself. Dawn is absolutely essential to the wash process with oiled birds, we use tons of it. I was surprised that IBR uses something that I use at home to wash my dishes.”

In celebration of the step-change that a vocation to wildlife rescue has on so many volunteers worldwide, and in honor of the brand’s “We All Love Wildlife” video series, Dawn is asking consumers to share their stories by tagging #HowDoYouLoveWildlife at www.facebook.com/dawn, www.twitter.com/dawndish or www.youtube.com/dawndish.

“We depend on volunteers to help us achieve our mission to save wildlife and keep it secure and thriving,” said Barbara Callahan, Executive Director, International Bird Rescue. “When an oil spill occurs, birds and marine mammals are often injured by oil that pollutes their habitat. Without human intervention, many distressed animals have no chance of survival. Our volunteers do everything from hands-on patient care to prepping food, cleaning the facility, and releasing the rehabilitated animals. And with the help of Dawn Dish Soap, we’re able to continue our efforts to save and care for thousands of birds every year. For almost 40 years, Dawn has been the only dishwashing brand we’ve trusted to help clean oiled wildlife.”

To debut the video series, Dawn enlisted the help of actor and animal advocate Ian Somerhalder. Ian’s namesake foundation is involved in campaigns that focus on everything from pollution to animal cruelty. To date, the foundation has awarded \\$50M in Animal Medical Emergency Grants – of which IBR has been a recipient. Ian joined Dawn at IBR’s San Pedro, Calif. facility where guests shadowed veteran volunteers for a behind-the-scenes look at the impactful and profound work happening at the wildlife rescue center. To culminate the event, attendees participated in the release of several rehabilitated birds back into the wild – including two California Brown Pelicans and one Western Gull – their rehabilitation and recovery of which was made possible thanks to IBR volunteers and staff.

“My love for wildlife and environmental conservation defines and fuels me – it’s not just a passion of mine, it’s a priority,” said actor Ian Somerhalder. “It’s so important to me to collaborate with people who see the inherent value of wildlife protection and the natural world as an integral part of our rich ecosystem and the preservation of our collective human experience. I’m honored to celebrate with Dawn and honor these compassionate wildlife volunteers and the animals they love.”

DAWN SAVES WILDLIFE

For almost 40 years, Dawn has been supporting wildlife rescue rehabilitation centers with its product to clean animals affected by oil pollution. Independent studies have proven Dawn Dish Soap to be the most effective dishwashing detergent for cleaning oiled animals, heralded for its “soft on feathers, tough on grease” benefit. As such, Dawn is the only dishwashing brand trusted by wildlife rescue experts for decades. Since 2006, Dawn has donated more than 50,000 bottles of dishwashing liquid and financial support to its wildlife partners, International Bird Rescue and The Marine Mammal Center. These donations have helped these organizations clean more than 75,000 marine animals in the United States.
