OREANDA-NEWS. A working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Janos Balla, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Hungary to Russia took place today at the Gazprom headquarters.

The parties addressed the development prospects for the partnership between Russia and Hungary in the energy sector. The focus of the meeting fell on Russian natural gas supplies to the Republic, its transit to third countries, as well as the use of underground gas storage capacities in Hungary.

The participants also paid attention to the issues of gas transmission infrastructure development in Europe, highlighting, in particular, Russian gas supplies to the European market via the TurkStream and Nord Stream II gas pipelines.

In 2014 Russian gas supplies to Hungary accounted for 5.4 billion cubic meters.

On December 1, 2014 Gazprom and Turkish Botas signed the Memorandum of Understanding on constructing the TurkStream gas pipeline with the annual capacity of 63 billion cubic meters, to run from Russia towards Turkey across the Black Sea.

On June 18, 2015 Gazprom, E.ON, Shell and OMV signed the Memorandum of Intent stipulating the joint construction of two strings of the Nord Stream II gas pipeline with the aggregate annual capacity of 55 billion cubic meters, to be laid from the Russian coast to the German coast via the Baltic Sea.
