OREANDA-NEWS. Volkswagen production at GAZ facilities in Nizhny Novgorod is stopped from 1 to 10 July, PR Director of Volkswagen Group Rus Natalia Kostyukovich said. Under the contract, GAZ assembles the Skoda Yeti, the Volkswagen Jetta and the Skoda Octavia, and Volkswagen Group Rus pays for them, Vedomosti newspaper reports.

Production will be resumed after the weekend on 13 July, the downtime will be eight working days, which will be paid to the employees as 2/3 of wages, N.Kostyukovich continues. In March and April, Volkswagen Group Rus production in Nizhny Novgorod operated four days a week, in May and June - five days a week. N.Kostyukovich does not know what regime will be applied after the downtime. According to her, "the downtime is caused by the general economic situation, it is necessary to adjust production to market needs."

Volkswagen assembly line in Nizhny Novgorod started operation at the end of 2012, its production capacity is 132,000 vehicles per year. 60,000 vehicles were produced last year.
