OREANDA-NEWS. July 10, 2015. Recently, Ford Vietnam announced its best-ever performance for the month of June with retail sales jumping 66 percent year-over-year to 1,617 units, driven by continued strength in demand across its full lineup of global Ford vehicles.

The June record capped Ford’s best-ever half-year performance in Vietnam with overall retail sales increasing 70 percent year-over-year to 8,952 units - as Ford continues to be one of the fastest growing auto brands in the country this year.

Ford’s record first-half performance helped raise its overall share this year to 8.6 percent, up from 8.1 percent last year. This included June market share that rose to 8.7 percent from 8.2 percent in the same month a year ago.

“Our momentum in the first half is being driven by the growing appeal of our full lineup of global Ford vehicles in Vietnam,” said Jesus Metelo Arias, managing director, Ford Vietnam. “We’re connecting with the work and lifestyles of such a wide variety of Vietnamese customers, and together with our dealer partners we remain committed to providing the very best customer and ownership experience.”

The segment-defining Ranger continues to be Ford’s top-selling model in the Vietnam with June sales soaring 113 percent year-over-year to 628 units.

Ranger has remained the country’s best-selling pickup truck this year, and contributed to Ford’s record first-half with its sales increasing 106 percent to 3,392 units. Ranger was also the best-selling pickup in Vietnam in 2014. 

The EcoSport compact urban SUV maintained its momentum in June by delivering retail sales of 260 units. This helped boost its first half total to 1,700 units, as the EcoSport continues to define a whole new vehicle segment in Vietnam.

Since launching in the middle of last year in Vietnam, the EcoSport has become one of Ford’s most popular models by offering an attractive package of smart features, standout design and impressive fuel economy.

The Transit delivered June retail sales that increased 53 percent from a year ago to 468 units, as business owners and operators across a range of industries continue to appreciate the durability, versatility and value proposition that this high-quality commercial vehicle delivers.

Vietnam’s best-selling commercial van in 2014, the Transit has maintained its segment leadership this year with first-half sales rising 42 percent to 2,430 units.

The sporty Ford Fiesta contributed to the June performance with sales of 72 units. The Fiesta features Ford’s award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine, which delivers the power and performance of a traditional 1.6-liter engine combined with improved fuel economy and reduced emission levels.

The popular Everest delivered June sales of 125 units, helping it contribute to the record first-half performance with overall retail sales of 791 units.

Ford continued with its ongoing dealer network expansion in the first half, with the opening of Ford Binh Duong and City Ford in Ho Chi Minh City, and the upgrade of Sai Gon Ford Pho Quang. Ford now has 28 authorized dealerships in key locations across the country.
