OREANDA-NEWS. July 09, 2015. Alstom and DF Energy, consortium partners for the construction of Carrington Power Station in Manchester, have donated ?1,000 to Abbots Lea School, based in Liverpool.

And, to make the news for the school even better, employees from contractor CB&I and trade union members working on site collected an additional ?2,695 for the school.

Brian Tidmarsh, who organised the collection and whose son is a pupil at the school, said: “I was amazed at the generosity of the workers from site and also from Alstom and DF Energy.  The school has provided fantastic support to me and my family and my son really enjoys his time there.”

Abbots Lea School caters for 214 pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and other related difficulties who are aged between five and 19-years-old.

Mary Donovan, fundraiser at Abbots Lea, said: “Although we receive funding from Liverpool Council to run the school, additional donations like this make a real difference.  We’re going to use the money to upgrade the library facilities and restock with new reading material.”

Anthony Wilson, from Alstom, said: “Visiting the school was a real pleasure – it’s an excellent facility that provides individual educational needs to the pupils.”

Joanne Sheehan, from DF Energy, said: “We were delighted to be able to add to the extraordinary amount donated by the CB&I and trade union workers from site.”

The new power station is being developed by Carrington Power Limited, which is owned by ESB, the leading Irish energy company which has operations in over 35 countries, including Ireland, the UK, Continental Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
