IBA Group Presents AFC System in Kaliningrad
IBA Group developed and implemented the AFC System for public transport in 2014. Since then, it has acquired a positive reputation among the passengers in Minsk. The AFC System was recognized as the best vertical solution of the year at the European IT & Software Excellence Awards 2015 by IT Europa.
The AFC System has similarities to the Oyster card system in London. The infrastructure of AFC includes card validators, paper ticket validators, onboard controllers, onboard computers, inspector terminals, POS terminals, a card issuing center, and a processing center.
According to Alexander Yaroshuk, mayor of Kaliningrad, the AFC System is able to satisfy the basic requirements of citizens: it covers flexible tariff plans and discount options. The mayor said that the demands of the citizens of Kaliningrad force the city administration to seek for more modern and civilized solutions in any sphere, including public transport. He also underlined that a similar fare system exists in neighboring European countries, including an e–ticket with a variety of fare options.
IBA representatives demonstrated the principles of work of the AFC System, as well as the transport tickets.
The administration of Kaliningrad considered a number of offers from different companies, and the cost of the AFC System compares favorably with similar Russian systems.
