OREANDA-NEWS. July 07, 2015. According to the Korea Automobile Importers and Distributors Association’s recent release, Ford Korea sold a total of 1,120 units in June, which was the most impressive monthly registration and a 58 percent increase compared to the same period last year’s registration 710 units. Ford Korea also sold 5,625 units in the first half of 2015, which was 31 percent increase from last year’s 4,287 units. Reaching both the highest monthly and first half sales record for the first time since its establishment, the company has proven itself as one of the fast growing auto brands in Korea’s import automobile market.

“The record sales reflects the growing acceptance of Ford and Lincoln brands with Korean customers. As a result of our efforts in bringing the best of Ford products and expanding exhibition rooms and service centers to Korea, we are witnessing a greater interest from our customers towards our  brands,” said Jae Jung, President and CEO,  Ford Korea. “We will continue to offer suitable models according to customers’ demand and pursue Ford’s ‘Power of Choice’ to offer best options for customers.”

The record-breaking June sales in Korea were mainly led by Ford Korea’s steady seller 7-seat full-size SUV Ford Explorer (532 units) and Lincoln’s luxury sedan Lincoln MKZ (120 units). Explorer offers a refined design, power, superior specifications like innovative functions and wide interior space with a reasonable price range, showing that the model is indeed an attractive solution for customers looking for a full-size SUV. The Lincoln MKZ, Lincoln’s premium mid-size sedan, is highly valued for intuitive and elegant interior and exterior design with state-of-the-art technology, proving once again its ongoing high popularity.

One of the remarkable achievements is the strong sales of the new Ford Mondeo (154 units). The new Mondeo, officially introduced at the Seoul Motor Show in April, is Ford’s representative mid-size diesel sedan developed and manufactured in Ford of Europe. It provides advanced safety, best-in-class fuel economy and remarkable driving performance. Receiving huge number of popularity even from start, new Mondeo expects to see continuous triumphs in automobile market.

The success of new Mustang, which has been Ford's iconic model and has represented ‘American Muscle Cars’ over 50 years, was also very outstanding. Fifty initial Mustang GTs, which were introduced to the Korean market for the first time to celebrate its launch, were sold out right after sales started. Including the 2.3-liter EcoBoost, the new Mustang has been successfully maintaining its popularity, which is unusual for a model from a sports car segment in Korea. Within the first half of the year, a total of 350 units of the new Mustang were sold and its popularity is likely to continue until the second half of the year.

In the second half, Ford Korea is going to launch three new competitive SUVs, the new Lincoln MKX, new Kuga and new Explorer, as well as the new Focus. By launching these models, Ford Korea plans to continue its growth momentum and firmly hold its brand value in the enlarging import car market.
