OREANDA-NEWS. July 07, 2015. ITOCHU Corporation (headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo; Masahiro Okafuji, President & CEO; hereinafter “ITOCHU”) announced today that, this fiscal year, it will continue to support the ITOCHU KODOMO NO YUME English Summer Camp in Rikuzentakata, which will be organized by AidTAKATA (location: Arasawa, Takata-cho, Rikuzentakata-shi, Iwate-ken; Tokyo Office: Otsuka, Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo), a nonprofit organization (NPO) that serves as a liaison council for supporting the City of Rikuzentakata.

ITOCHU will continue to support the summer camp for a second year through the ITOCHU Children’s Dreams Fund as part of its support activities for reconstruction after the Great East Japan Earthquake because providing children as tomorrow’s leaders with an opportunity to experience a different culture through sports as a common language conforms to the “Growth of Future Generations” in ITOCHU Corporation’s Basic Activity Guidelines on Social Contribution.

This is an American-style sports camp using an English-based program of SPORTS CAMP OF AMERICA (SCOA). It will be held over two days commencing Friday, July 31 for a total of 50 students, invited from the public, in grades 4-7, living in Rikuzentakata City. Seventeen university athletes from the United States will come to Japan to join the camp and instruct children from Rikuzentakata City in English in a variety of sports and activities. This year, employee volunteers from ITOCHU will also join the camp.
