Placing on the market and use of DECT 6.0 fixed telephony equipment is prohibited in Moldova
OREANDA-NEWS. July 06, 2015. Government of the Republic of Moldova approved the amendments to the Technical Regulation of radio equipment, telecommunications terminal equipment and the mutual recognition of their conformity. The amendments proposed by the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications prohibit the placing on the market and use of the fixed cordless telephony equipment in DECT 6.0 standard and other issued equipments that can produce harmful interference.
The Deputy Minister of ICT, Dumitru Parfentiev mentioned that the use of DECT 6.0 phones disturb the public mobile telephone networks and the quality of services provided by the operators. The DECT standard requires the use of 1880-1900 MHz frequency bend, while the standard DECT 6.0 uses 1920-1930 MHz frequency band designated for mobile operators. Thus, the DECT 6.0 standard appliances disturb the normal operation of these networks.
The MITC specifies that the need to approve the amendments occurred after, in the last period, more cases of harmful electromagnetic interferences for mobile systems have been reported and detected. In order to avoid the infringement of the existing legislation, the consumers are advised to use appliances purchased in authorized stores, which are marked with CE logo (good to be used in the European Union). Fixed cordless telephone devices that cannot be used are those that operate in DECT 6.0 standard and marked with: “United States”, “FCC Approved”, “For use in USA and Canada”.
