AREVA inaugurates the extension of its facility in Sully-sur-Loire
The extension represents an investment of more than 15 million euros and 18 months of work, for a total of 40,000 working hours for nearly 30 companies based in the Centre region.
The aim of the project was to increase the capacity of the facility, which maintains and decontaminates equipment used in operations on nuclear sites in anticipation of the requirements for EDF’s large-scale modernization program for 1300MW reactors in France.
CEDOS provides maintenance and storage areas, as well as equipment qualification services and staff training. The site now boasts facilities across 8700m2, with 6500m2 of storage, 800m2 dedicated to maintenance, in addition to 25-, 20- and 2.5-tonne cranes, and a pool measuring 6x7x6m, making it a unique asset in Europe along with the AREVA sites at Chalon-sur-Sa?ne (Sa?ne-et-Loire) and Maubeuge (Nord).
“The extension that we are inaugurating today helps our group meet the needs of our customers, in particular EDF, which has begun work on a major maintenance program for French power plants at its Paluel site. It was vital for AREVA, a global leader in this area, to upgrade its facilities and make these services sustainable over the long term,” explained Nicolas Maes, Executive Vice-President of AREVA’s Installed Base Division, which managers the CEDOS facility.
