The investment committee of State Corporation Rosatom made a decision to finance works for mine No.6 construction of PJSC PIMCU
Let’s remind that the project of PJSC PIMCU mine No.6 construction was supported at the meeting of the Coordination Council for social and economic development of the Baikal region at the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Russian President in the Siberian Federal District and at the meeting on legislative support of uranium mining industry development in the Federation Council. It was acknowledged “strategically important” for uranium-mining industry development in Russia. At present works are underway for inclusion of mine No.6 infrastructure construction in the FTP “Economic development of the Far East and Trans-Baikal until 2018.
Mine No.6 will enable to commission Argunskoye and Zherlovoe deposits of the Streltsovskie ore fields. “This is 35% of total reserves of the largest uranium mining plants in Russia. Average uranium contents on them is higher than on existing mines, which enables to guarantee a competitive production cost”, stressed Victor Svyatetskiy.
Construction of mine No.6 does not complete but continues development of one of the world largest uranium ore areas. During operation of mine No.6 Caldera project, additional exploration of Streltsovskoe ore field, will be completed. Based on the results of geological survey of the area we will be able to define a long-term development strategy, provide the union with profitable uranium reserves for many decades”, - told Sergey Shurygin, general director of PJSC PIMCU.
Implementation of mine No.6 construction project started back in Soviet times, however, in 90-s it was suspended. Construction is planned to complete in 2022.
“Project implementation became possible, in the first place, due to efforts of PIMCU personnel which is over the last year and a half exerted all efforts for reaching the break-even work level and efficiency raising. What is important is to believe in yourself, then any tasks are feasible - stressed Victor Svyatetskiy.
