OREANDA-NEWS. July 01, 2015. The 2016 New Focus media drive gathered 180 journalists and influencers from Brazil and Argentina in Fortaleza,  in Brazilian Northeast, last week. In the event, Ford highlighted the product’s new technologies introduced in the segment.

"More than ever, Focus is a car for those who like to drive. Now, it brings a set of innovations and the most attractive prices in the segment do strengthen its leadership,” says Natan Vieira, Marketing, Sales and Service vice-president, Ford South America. 

In addition to presentations of Engineering, Design and Marketing executives, the event included a test drive of about 90 kilometers, through the beautiful beaches and sights of the city that is the oldest in the region. It was also made the demonstration of two new technologies, Active City Stop and second generation Park Assist.

Besides the new front design and 17 inches alloy wheels, the entire line-up is equipped with AdvanceTrac, including electronic stability and traction control, Curve Torque Control, Hill Launch Assist, Emergency Brake Assist, Emergency Brake Light and low tire pressure warning. Bi-xenon adaptive headlamps, SYNC Media System with MyFord Touch, leather seats, dual zone automatic digital air conditioning, intelligent access and start button, electric folding mirrors, driver's seat with electric adjustment and electric sunroof are also offered.

Produced in the Pacheco plant in Argentina, the New Focus comes to the South American market in August, just eight months after the launch in Europe. Although it offers much more standard and optional items and a more refined interior, the new car will be sold for the same price of the previous model, which generated much praise from the press.

The handling, recognized as one of the main Focus’ qualities, received additional mechanical refinement, with increased body stiffness and new steering and suspension tuning. Two advanced new-generation engines remain on the line-up: Sigma Flex 1.6, 135 cv, with manual five-speed transmission, and 2.0 Direct Flex, 178 cv, with six-speed sequential transmission, now available with paddle shift.
