OREANDA-NEWS. The Pervouralsk Pipe plant as part of ChelPipe Group is the first Russian pipe plant to put into operation a multichannel ultrasonic flaw detector for ultrasonic examination and gauging the wall thickness of boiler pipes made of stainless, carbon, low-alloy and alloyed grades of steel. This will help enhance the pipe quality control and meet client's extra requirements to the plant's products.

The multichannel flaw detector manufactured by Introtest, Russian company based in Yekaterinburg, is unique in terms of its engineering and capacity for processing various-size pipes: wall thickness up to 8 mm and length up to 25,000 mm. Its application conforms to the international product testing requirements. The cost of investments into boiler pipe QC amounts to15 million RUB.

The key customers for such products are power plant engineering enterprises. The multichannel flaw detector will help the Pervouralsk Pipe plant replace foreign boiler pipes for power plants and steam superheaters, imported from the EU and China on the Russian market, as respective quality requirements are getting ever more stringent.
