OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2015. According to AUTOSTAT  analytic agency, 133,500 passenger cars were imported to Russia during the first 5 months of 2015. This is 54% less than a year ago (290,000 vehicles). In May, import declined even more significantly. Automakers imported less than 21,000 vehicles, which is three times less than last year in May (61,000 units).

Toyota remains the leader in foreign car import with 33,600 vehicles imported in January-May of the current year, a quarter (25.9%) less than a year ago. The second place belongs to Mercedes with 17,500 vehicles imported, Hyundai (15,834 vehicles) is on the third, Lexus (11,894 units) is on the fourth and Audi (8,704 vehicles) is on the fifth places. 

According to the director of AUTOSTAT agency, Sergey Tselikov, new vehicle import in Russia can decrease by about 60% and domestic assembly may reduce by about 30%  in 2015.  According to him about 1.5 million new passenger cars will be sold in Russia this year, which is 36% less than last year's result (2.34 million. vehicles).
