Co-heads of Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation discuss bilateral trade
OREANDA-NEWS. June 29, 2015. Acting Deputy Prime Minister Victor Osipov today met Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin within the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental economic cooperation commission. Attending the event were also representatives of relevant ministries and institutions from the two countries.
Osipov and Rogozin approached a wide range of issues on the bilateral agenda, especially removing barriers to the bilateral trade, developing and extending cooperation in agri-industrial sector, cooperation in energy and transport areas, as well as in social and humanitarian field.
The Moldovan side underlined the importance of boosting dialogue to remove tariff and non-tariff restrictions applied by Russia on import of more categories of Moldovan goods. At the same time, the Russian side expressed willingness to identify solutions to current problems, especially, export of alcoholic beverages, processed fruit-vegetable production, vegetable and animal origin goods to the Russian market. Referring to energy cooperation, the sides agreed on the need to continue the consultations at the level of experts.
The officials also discussed the topic on the social protection of Moldovans working in Russia. Osipov and Rogozin pointed out the need to complete negotiations on the signing of a set of bilateral agreements regulating the concerned issues.
The sides agreed to launch preparations to organise an ordinary meeting of the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in next autumn.
A special topic was focused on the latest developments in the Transnistrian case, social and economic situation in the region, as well as perspectives of the five-plus-two negotiations.
The visit's agenda also included a working meeting with State Secretary, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Grigori Karasin. The sides exchanged opinions on the issues related to the bilateral cooperation and the Transnistrian conflict settlement. At both meetings, the officials expressed their stance on the need to diffuse the situation on the Transnistrian problem and continue the negotiations.
