ROSATOM took part in the 6th International Seminar on Nuclear Energy SIEN 2015 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)
In particular, I. Dybov noted that today Rosatom is the only company offering a full range of services in the nuclear industry, from mining and enrichment of uranium, construction of nuclear power plants and infrastructure to maintenance and NPP decommissioning. Corporation's portfolio of external orders exceed USD 100 billion, has more than 360 subsidiaries on his structure, more than 260 thousand employees works for enterprises of Russian nuclear power industry, about 1 million euros per year is invested in R&D. Currently, Rosatom implements 29 projects abroad on the construction of Russian design nuclear power plants, ranking the first place in simultaneous construction of nuclear power plants abroad.
"For Latin America and Brazil in particular, we are ready to offer a wide range of areas for cooperation. In addition to the nuclear power plant construction and infrastructure facilities, we have a references and in other sectors of nuclear energy such as nuclear medicine and radiation technologies in agriculture. Great prospects for cooperation we see in the creation and management of desalination systems and water treatment systems based on radiation technology, said I. Dybov.
He emphasized that ROSATOM provides flexible financing solutions depending on customer requirements and offers a high level of production localization. This partnership gives not just positive socio-economic benefits for the country, but also allows to Brazilian companies gain experience of cooperation with the Russian nuclear industry and become partners of ROSATOM projects in other countries.
In addition, during the session on discussion of opportunities to reduce costs in the construction of nuclear power plants, was a presentation made by Alexei Altynov, head of the department of contract economics of "Rusatom Overseas." In his report, he noted that the issue of cost management it is not just about reducing the costs for the construction of nuclear power plants, but also about competitive value of q/h. "Increasingly, customer is interested to get as a product the electric power from NPP, not nuclear power plant itself. That is why the question of guaranteeing the price comes to the fore, since this figure is critical both as industrial customers and to the people".
A. Altynov stressed the key areas that allow ROSATOM to reduce costs and be competitive in the world market. "During the construction of nuclear power plants, there are three key points that give an advantage to ROSATOM in question the cost of building nuclear power plants and the final cost of q/h: serial approach to the construction, the scale of construction and localization. "We are building a serially, on time and within budget. Namely serial nature of our construction allows to put into operation new units in full compliance with the terms." He cited the example the 3rd unit of the Rostov nuclear power plant, that was entered in 2014, ahead of schedule. And it was entered not just with a little ahead of schedule, but even with substantial savings budget - almost 10%. At the same time in 2014 it was the start of the 1st unit of Kudankulam NPP (India). In 2015 it is expected two launchings - unit №1 of Novovoronezh NPP-2 in Russia and the 2nd unit of Kudankulam NPP.
Moreover, a significant condition for reducing the cost of nuclear power plant is the scale of nuclear energy development program. For example, during the construction of the second power unit its cost will be reduced to 15% compared with the first power unit. “Thus, if we construct six power units in sequence, the sixth unit will be less around 23% comparing with the first one. Therefore, realization of large-scale construction program allows to bring more benefits to the country's economy” – Alexey Altynov added.
VI International Seminar on Nuclear Power, SIEN, which took place in Rio de Janeiro on 17 and 18 of June, is the only industry event in Brazil. For the sixth time the seminar gathers together the representatives of major national and international companies of the nuclear industry, of industrial engineering, construction, suppliers of electro technical equipment and materials, governmental institutions, including the specialized departments, as well as the representatives of the profiled universities and research-scientific institutes. The event touched discussions of the main topics which are relevant to the region: implementation of the national nuclear program, nuclear safety issues in the context of "post-Fukushima" development of nuclear energy, questions of operation and creation of infrastructure for nuclear power plants, new solutions in the construction of NPP.
