The National Food Safety Week at Carrefour
OREANDA-NEWS. June 24, 2015. Opening ceremony of the National Food Safety Week-Food safety in supermarkets held by Carrefour China Foundation for Food Safety was launched at Beijing Shuangjing store.
Mr. Thierry Garnier, Executive Director of Carrefour China, Mr. Charles Martins Ferreira - Conseiller Agricole R?gional Adjoint French Embassy in China, Mr. Guo Geping - President of China Chain store and Franchise Association, Director General of Department of Media & Publicity, China Food & Drug Administration and Chinese mainstream media attended the event.
This event themed “quality, science, health” is to coincide with the promotion of National Food Safety Week. Carrefour will carry out this event nationwide, covering all Carrefour stores in 70 cities to deliver information about food safety to consumers. Carrefour will start several activities to promote food safety, including putting up posters in retailing stores and educating consumers to identify qualified, safe food. Some of the stores in Beijing have established cooperation with universities, such as the College of Food Science, China Agricultural University, to discuss questions about food safety.
Since 2006, Carrefour has been taking part in Food Safety Weeks for 9 years. Officials of Carrefour China claim that food safety is always a subject the government, companies, and consumers concern. Carrefour China’s Foundation for Food Safety has cooperated with relevant Government organs, productions and distribution sectors, high education institutions as well as end-users. Together with various social powers, Carrefour will make effort to call for consumer’s participation and foster a sense of responsibility among citizens.
