Sberbank Holds Business Breakfast at St. Petersburg Economic Forum
OREANDA-NEWS. Sberbank held the business breakfast "Crisis: Myths and Reality. What to do?" at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
The speakers of the event were: Alexey Ulyukaev, Russian Minister of Economic Development of Russia; Anton Siluanov, Russian Minister of Finance; Jacob Frenkel, Chairman of JP Morgan Chase International; Mohammad Gawdat, Vice President of Business Innovation at Google; Lim Siong Guan, President of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) and Head of the Singapore Civil Service in 1999 - 2005; Kenneth Rogoff, Professor of Public Policy at Harvard University; Alexei Kudrin, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences of St. Petersburg State University; Alexander Oslon, President of the Fund "Public Opinion". The discussion was moderated by Herman Gref, CEO, Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank of Russia.
"In order to choose the topic for today's business breakfast, we questioned businessmen and relied on their feedback", Herman Gref noted opening the discussion.
How to choose the optimal strategy during the crisis? What should it be? Participants of Sberbank's business breakfast analysed myths and realities of the current crisis and identified possible and rational behavioral strategies to come out of it.
During the discussion, two interactive pollings took place. In answer to the question, "What should be done to return to economic growth of no less than 2% per year?", the majority of attendees chose the option to conduct structural reforms. The majority of the audience in answer to the question, "How can the current crisis be overcome?", decided that accelerating reforms will improve the investment climate making the economy more attractive for investors.
