OREANDA-NEWS. Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc.'s (“the Company”) President, Tsuyoshi Nagano, announces that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. (“TMNF”) has been granted a license by the Ins urance Business Regulatory Board of Myanmar to operate (underwrite insurance business) in Thilawa Special Economic Zone of Myanmar, effective on May 27, 2015.

The Thilawa Special Economic Zone ("the Zone") in Myanmar is jointly developed through active government-private cooperation of Myanmar an d Japan. The Myanmar Special Economic Zone Law was revised in January 2014 to al low foreign insurance companies to operate (underwrite insurance business) within the Zone subject to compliance of its laws and conditions.

This license granted to TMNF to operate in the Zone took effect on May 27 2015.

The Company who already had a presence in Myanmar s ince 1997 through TMNF's liaison office in Yangon, will now be better placed to provide our customers in the Zone with access to a greater range of insurance products as well as more direct support and service to fulfil their insurance needs.
