OREANDA-NEWS. June 23, 2015. Russian petrochemical group SIBUR and Schneider Electric, the global specialist in energy management and automation, have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. At the Saint-Petersburg International Economic Forum the document was signed by SIBUR’s General Director Dmitry Konov and by Schneider Electric Chairman and CEO Jean-Pascal Tricoire.

In partnership with leading international and Russian engineering companies, SIBUR is continually upgrading its industrial facilities and infrastructure. In partnership between SIBUR and Schneider Electric it is planned to implement a package of decisions aimed at energy saving, at cutting operational costs and improving industrial reliability at the Russian company’s industrial facilities.

The main areas for cooperation include: power supply of the facilities, electric power dispatch, metering and quality control systems, motor control, uninterruptable power supply devices, complex automation of sites and production facilities, pipelines dispatching and control, introduction of energy efficient innovative solutions, scientific cooperation with industry-specific educational institutions, technical workshops for SIBUR specialists.

If the parties obtain appropriate agreements, they are planning to develop an umbrella program for enterprise and systems technical upgrading using latest developments and advanced technologies of Schneider Electric. Moreover, Schneider Electric may act as a technical partner in the course of reconstruction, modernization or creation of new facilities and technologies at SIBUR’S production sites.

“SIBUR is continuously monitoring the energy efficiency at the company’s production facilities. The company implements an annually updated program for energy saving based on regular energy surveys of its facilities. Share of the power resources represent significant part of our production cost. Therefore, we are making significant investments in energy saving to enhance our competitiveness. The agreement with one of the global leaders in industrial energy usage will allow us to expand the scope of the best solutions in this sphere available at our facilities” said Dmitry Konov.

The memorandum is valid through July, 2018.
