Shining brightly at Le Bourget: Airbus wraps up a successful Paris Air Show
OREANDA-NEWS. June 23, 2015. Airbus’ highly-active 2015 International Paris Air Show underscored the firm endorsement of its comprehensive highly-efficient market-leading product line, which provides unmatched cabin comfort and environmental performance, all backed by the company’s dedication to customer service.
Firm orders and commitments for 421 Airbus aircraft worth more than \\$57 billion (at list prices) were announced during the week – comprising commercial activity from across its market-leading widebody and single aisle product lines and representing one of its best-ever showings at this biennial aviation gathering.
“We had another very successful Paris Air Show,” said Fabrice Br?gier, Airbus’ President and Chief Executive Officer, in front of a standing-room only crowd of international journalists at the company’s traditional end-of-show press conference today. “It confirms that the market trend is extremely positive and it confirms that we will achieve – and I hope exceed – our target that we communicated earlier this year, which was to have a book-to-bill ratio of above one.”
Br?gier explained that this week’s activity reaffirmed Airbus comprehensive jetliner offering, which is the most modern, comfortable, reliable and efficient range of commercial aircraft available today. “Globally we have never been so strong,” he said. “We have never had such a new family of aircraft in every category.”
Beyond 4,000 for the A320neo
Airbus also announced the singing of a major Memorandum of Understanding today for 110 A321neo aircraft with Wizz Air, the largest low-cost carrier in Eastern and Central Europe.
“The A321 is a superior product in terms of delivering efficiency for our business,” said J?zsef V?radi, CEO of Wizz Air during a briefing with journalists today. “Wizz Air stands for efficiency, low costs and also choice for customers, and we think the A320 Family best accommodates those aspirations.
This new announcement, along with other commercial activity at this week’s Paris Air Show, brings Airbus’ A320neo Family to more than 4,000 firm orders and commitments since the single-aisle NEO’s launch.
18-inch-wide seats and innovation for unmatched comfort
The success of Airbus’ widebody and single-aisle jetliners at the show underscored the comfortable, flexible and efficient cabin options offered throughout its commercial aircraft. These help Airbus aircraft deliver unrivalled comfort aloft, with superior passenger experiences in all classes of service, including the company’s modern 18-inch-wide seat comfort standard for economy class travellers.
In addition, the company’s drive to create new and better ways to fly means it is applying pioneering technical solutions to continuously improve cabins for passengers and operators alike. A prime example is this week’s agreement with JAMCO for a new aft galley and lavatory module option on the A350 XWB to increase efficiency while maintaining high comfort levels.
Airbus is also utilising other cabin innovations in its various aircraft, including: new door configurations, new classes, bigger stowage bins, latest-generation in-flight entertainment systems and many more.
EcoWay: the path to eco-efficiency
Another cornerstone of Airbus’ market-leading commercial jetliners is the superior environmental performance they offer and the company’s impressive track record of creating more value with lower environmental impact.
Underscoring this commitment is the “EcoWay” – a series of seven stations around the Le Bourget Airport that highlights how Airbus and Airbus Group are reducing the environmental footprint of aviation through eco-innovation, eco-performance and eco-services.
This is an important consideration for Airbus – embedded throughout the lifecycle of its products with the company’s dedication to a sustainable future for aviation and reducing the air transport sector’s environmental footprint.
Services by Airbus
Supporting the operation of its aircraft with a global operator base also is a key priority for Airbus – through the company’s seamless integration of a complete aircraft lifecycle service portfolio to enhance operators’ Airbus fleets with innovative solutions and the most efficient technologies.
Highlighting this focus, are a range of agreements disclosed during the week covering important areas of “Services by Airbus’” six key pillars: Training, Flight Operations; Upgrades; Engineering & Maintenance e-solutions; Material & Supply Chain; and Flight Hours & Tailored Support Package services.
Services by Airbus’ emphasis on these topics allows customers to benefit from a full range of capabilities and expertise from Airbus, its network and ventures, including SATAIR Group, Airbus ProSky and Training by Airbus.
