OREANDA-NEWS. June 22, 2015. Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk will require an audit of all the state energy companies, as government policy is aimed at market and fair tariffs in the energy sector. He said this today at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

"I expect that four largest global accounting firms will carry out the first audit and make their first conclusion on tariff charge. And I am going to ask for further audit of energy companies, including NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, Ukrgazvydobuvania, Ukrtransgaz, so that we find out all expenses, depreciation exps, investments and expenditures of all public companies," he said.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk stressed that this "the most transparent way on setting tariffs in the country."

"A person who receives a payment order, must know that we have checked completely all the expenses of public companies, all the incomes of public companies, the natural gas price, the price of domestic gas, and what we have to prove this," he stated.

"The task of the country today is to lay the foundation for making Ukraine completely energy independent state in 10 years, and making us consume the least amount of energy products, because today we occupy the first place in the world as to the amount of primary energy consumption per 1 dollar of gross domestic product. This is unacceptable," the Prime Minister underlined.

According to him, the energy policy of the Government is aimed at market and fair tariffs in the energy sector. In addition, the state should protect all low-income citizens in view of bringing tariffs in accordance with the economically reasonable level. One of the main tasks is to provide energy efficiency and energy independence of the state in the next 10 years.

Moreover, Arseniy Yatsenyuk believes that Ukraine should be ensured with domestic energy products and energy efficiency, "Energy updating, insulation of buildings, meters and a reduction in consumption and therefore a decrease in accounts for the population." "That's our energy policy," the Prime Minister noted.

He also observed that by the end of this week a previous audit of large audit firms on the formation of tariffs should be completed. Arseniy Yatsenyuk said that audit results will be promulgated at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. "Whatever results of the audit, we now say only about the transparency and fairness of pricing and tariffs, and not a political lie being spread," Arseniy Yatsenyuk emphasized.
