Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines to power new operator Neos
OREANDA-NEWS. June 19, 2015. Italian carrier Neos will become a new operator of Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines, which will power three leased Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.
The aircraft will be provided by lessor AerCap and the engine sales are already accounted for in the Rolls-Royce orderbook. Neos has also selected long-term TotalCare® engine service support.
Marco Brusa, Neos, Technical Director, said: “This is a significant development for our airline. These aircraft will be our first new widebodies, powered by our first Rolls-Royce engines and supported by our first long-term engine services agreement. The Trent 1000 and TotalCare combination offers excellent performance and reliability and will allow us to achieve our operational goals.”
Bruce Blythe, Rolls-Royce, Senior Vice President – Customers, Civil Large Engines, said: “We welcome Neos into our family of Trent engine operators, and look forward to supporting their strategic ambitions. Our engines offer outstanding reliability, performance and lifetime fuel burn on the 787 Dreamliner.”
The Trent 1000 has been selected in more than 60 per cent of engine competitions in the last five years.
Neos currently operates a fleet of Boeing 737 and 767 aircraft on major holiday routes across the Mediterranean, Africa, Asia and the Caribbean, as well as serving destinations in Italy, where it operates with four hubs: Malpensa, Bergamo, Verona and Bologna.
