OREANDA-NEWS. June 19, 2015. Rolls-Royce has signed a long-term TotalCare® service support contract with Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) for Trent 1000 engines that power six Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft.

Mr. Chalermpom Intarawong, THAI, Executive Vice President - Technical Department, said: “We are delighted to once again select TotalCare service support for Rolls-Royce engines, which helps us to maximise aircraft availability and passenger service. The Trent 1000 provides us with the guarantee of outstanding lifetime fuel burn, performance and reliability.”

Dominic Horwood, Rolls-Royce, Chief Customer Officer – Civil Large Engines, said: “THAI is a valued customer with which we share a long-standing relationship. Our TotalCare service will ensure we can provide the best in care for these engines and ensure they deliver the best economic performance.”

THAI has selected every member of the Trent engine family currently in service and today operates 56 Trent powered aircraft.

The Trent 1000 has real momentum in the marketplace - in the last five years the Trent 1000 has been selected in more than 60 per cent of engine competitions.

Rolls-Royce powered the very first Boeing 787 test flight in December 2009, the first 787-8 to enter service in October 2011, and the first 787-9 to enter service, in 2014.
